AgriSA: Protecting and promoting the farming in South Africa agrisa.org.za
AgriSA™ Company Profile
AgriSA™ was established in response to the needs expressed by farmers during the Natal Farmers' Conference in 1896. Recognizing the necessity for a unified agricultural voice, the South African Agricultural Union (SAAU) was formed in 1904. The goal was to create a central organization representing all agricultural unions across British South Africa, which would advocate for the interests of the farming community. Over time, AgriSA™ has evolved, transforming from the SAAU to AgriSA in 1999, and later leading to the formation of Agbiz, which focuses on agribusiness and co-operatives.
AgriSA™ functions as a federation of agricultural organizations, including provincial agricultural unions, commodity groups, and co-operatives. The organization operates through several chambers, including the Provincial Chamber, Commodity Chamber, and Agribusiness Chamber, addressing key issues such as land management, natural resource use, safety, labor, and trade. AgriSA™ aims to promote a prosperous agricultural sector by advocating for farmers’ needs and fostering collaboration among its members.
